Physical Therapy Day of Service to take place on October 13, 2018!

Physical Therapy Profession And Communities Come Together For a Day of Service To Promote Sustainable Change Around The World

Since its grassroots start in 2015, Physical Therapy Day of Service (PTDOS) has become an inspiring and expanding movement. The event has recruited over 12,000 participants from all 50 U.S. states and 55 countries across the world. This innovative initiative aims to mobilize clinicians, students, and associated staff of the physical therapy profession to give back to  their local communities in order to collectively produce a positive global impact.

This year’s theme for PTDOS is TRANSFORM.  We want to transform our communities, transform ourselves, and transform our profession by creating positive and impactful service projects around the world. In 2017, we were able to TRANSCEND our profession by unifying healthcare providers, friends and family. With the help of 4,731 participants world wide, we truly embraced the positive change that can be created when we come together for a common purpose.

Participants are asked to pledge on the website (ptdayofservice.com), which in turn commits them to doing an act of service of any type on October 13th. The PTDOS team encourages participants to serve in a way that would resonate with them and in a way that they feel will have a good and positive effect in their community. All participants are also asked to post their photos and videos on social media using #PTDOS, so all participants can see a mosaic of compassion and service from all over the world happening on the same day.

All sponsorships will be going to Move Together, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to increase access to quality rehabilitation medicine around the corner and around the world. Each sponsorship helps Move Together have a sustainable and responsible impact in communities near and far. Move Together is the parent organization of PT Day of Service.

As with past years, any type of service event can count as participation. Examples of past service events include cleaning up parks/highways, building wheelchair ramps, and providing wellness screens to local community members.
