General Program Description

Clinical Experiences
There is one two-week full-time clinical during the summer of the freshman year of the program. There are two seven-week full-time terminal clinical rotations during the spring of the sophomore year.
Faculty
There are two full-time faculty members. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:12.
Enrollment
Total enrollment at the college is 27,699. The PTA program accepts 24 students per year.
Admission
Students are not required to complete prerequisites for the PTA program; however, admission points are awarded for students who have completed general education coursework.
Outcomes
100% first-time pass rate for 2009 and 2010 graduates.
Tuition, fees and financial aid
Tuition for the college is $36.00 per semester hour for Texas residents. Basic fees are $26.75 for in-district students and $48.75 per semester hour for out of district students. Aid is available to many students through state, federal, and local government. In addition, the PTA program awards the Lynn Laird Scholarship annually to students enrolled in the PTA program.
Student life
There is a plentiful supply of on and off-campus housing located in Amarillo and surrounding areas. The college consists of four campuses. The Washington Street campus houses most of the general education and related courses. The West campus houses all the medical programs and Industrial Education. The West campus is located adjacent to the medical center. The Polk Street campus, which provides business and community services based programs and a newly acquired technical campus, is located approximately 20 miles to the northeast of Amarillo. Amarillo is located in the panhandle of Texas and is ideally located to many resort areas in Texas as well as New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Students can expect to be present in class all morning and at least one afternoon a week.
