General Program Description

The DPT program is a 6.5 year program. The program employs ten core faculty members and numerous clinicians as associated faculty and guest lecturers. A portfolio and research proposal or systematic review is required. Graduation from the program occurs in December.

Clinical Experiences
Clinical sites are located primarily in the Midwest. Students complete two 5-week clinical internships in the summer between the fifth and sixth year. Three 10-week, full-time clinical internships take place during the summer and fall after the academic work is completed. Students are required to have a variety of clinical experiences (acute, rehab, and outpatient).

Faculty
The core faculty is comprised of ten full-time faculty members. 100% hold post-professional doctoral degrees, seven are certified as a clinical specialist, and nine are engaged in clinical practice. Over the past three years, the faculty has averaged three publications in peer-reviewed journals and 90% of faculty have presented their research to audiences at state or National conventions. The faculty to student ratio is 1:24 for the first three years and 1:14 for the last three years.

Enrollment
Maryville University has an enrollment of approximately 5,033 students. The physical therapy program admits approximately 50 students into its freshman class each year. Currently, there are about 300 students enrolled in the physical therapy program.

Admission
The grade point average (GPA) of applicants admitted to the physical therapy program for freshman entry was 3.96, and the average ACT composite was 27. The priority application date is November 15. A minimum 3.0 GPA, 24 on the ACT, 20 hours of observation in a physical therapy setting, two letters of recommendation, and evidence of participation and leadership roles are required for admission.

Outcomes
82% of admitted students graduate from the program; 100% of the 2013 graduates passed the licensure exam on the first try; and 100% of those program graduates seeking employment are employed.

Tuition, fees and financial aid
The average tuition for the 2014-15 academic year is $24,694 for full-time students. Room and board is approximately $9,972 per year. General fees are $1,190 for full-time students, and books costs average $500 per semester. Lab fees are approximately $240 per semester. Approximately 92 percent of the full-time undergraduate students receive grants, loans or scholarships. Student life
Maryville University is a private comprehensive institution located in the western suburbs of St. Louis. There are two coeducational residence halls and five student apartments on campus. There are numerous activities on campus, including a full complement of Division II intercollegiate athletics and over 70 student organizations.
