General Program Description
The program begins in September each year. The program is a 2-year curriculum with 4 full semesters and one 6-week summer clinical experience to be completed between the first and second years. Degrees are conferred in May of the second year.
Clinical Experiences
All students complete three different clinical experiences. Each affiliation is 40 hours per week and is 6 weeks in duration. Bay State College coordinates all clinical experiences for the students.
Faculty
There are three full-time and four part-time faculty members, in addition to six lab assistants. The faculty to student ratio is 1:12.
Enrollment
Total enrollment of the college’s day division is approximately 500 students. The PTA program has a maximum enrollment of 40 first-year and 40 second-year students.
Admission
A minimum GPA of 2.7 is required. If the GPA is from college courses, it must be based on 12 credits or more. A laboratory science, either biology, chemistry, physics, or anatomy and physiology, is required with a minimum grade of C. All applicants must complete an application and submit official transcripts. All applicants must demonstrate English competence by achievement of a score on the Bay State College’s English placement test sufficient to be placed into English I. Applicants complete the admission process by successfully completing a personal interview. The school has a rolling admissions policy.
Outcomes
73% of admitted students graduate from the program (2.5-year average).
Tuition, fees and financial aid
$662.50/credit with a total of 68 credits required to graduate. A college representative from the Financial Aid Office personally contacts every new applicant to assist him/her with the completion of an individually tailored financial plan prior to the start of school. Information on financial assistance and opportunities for work-study positions are available through the Financial Aid Office.
Student life
Bay State College is located in the historic Back Bay area of Boston. The city is host to a wide variety of cultural, social and sports events. Boston also has the reputation of being one of the best medical communities in the country. Student services include the Learning Center where students may go for tutoring by faculty and peers. Student groups such as the PTA Club are open to all PTA students. On-campus housing is available to all students.
