Three-year entry level Doctorate Degree.

Clinical Experiences
Students have a total of 34 weeks of full-time clinical education.

Faculty
There are 11 full-time faculty and two part-time faculty members. All of the full-time faculty hold post-professional doctoral degrees, four are certified as clinical specialists, and four are engaged in clinical practice. Over the past 3 years, the faculty has averaged two publications in peer-reviewed journals. The faculty to student ratio is 1:10.

Enrollment
Total enrollment exceeds 16,000 students in a comprehensive urban university and medical center complex. The physical therapy program accepts 50 students per class.

Admission
Requirements for application to the physical therapy program include a baccalaureate degree, a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0. Prerequisites include: 16 semester hours of biology (including human or mammalian physiology); 9 semester hours of psychology; 8 semester hours each of physics, and chemistry for science majors; 6 semester hours English composition; 3-4 semester hours of statistics; and 3 semester hours of pre-calculus with trig. 40% of qualified applicants are admitted to the program (3 year average).

Outcomes
98% of admitted students graduate from the program (3-year average), and 92% have employment within 3 months of graduation. Over the same time period 92% have passed the licensure examination.

Tuition, fees and financial aid
Tuition is $664/semester for first credit hour and $457/hour for subsequent credit hours – Alabama residents. The cost is $1281/semester for first credit hour and $1074/hour for subsequent credit hours – Nonresidents. On-campus housing costs range from $3,500-$8,000 per year. Financial aid information may be obtained from UAB’s Office of Financial Aid.

Student life
Dormitories and apartments are available on campus. Convenient off-campus housing is available in a wide price range. Intercollegiate and intramural athletics and recreational facilities are abundant. The newly opened UAB Campus Recreation Center, provides everything you need to stay active under one roof — free weights, court sports, swimming pools, group fitness classes, nutrition education, fitness areas, a climbing wall, and much more. UAB occupies 82 city blocks near downtown Birmingham with easy access via interstate highways and the Birmingham airport.
