    The Examination and Treatment of the Upper Extremity Utilizing a Cyriax and Mulligan Based Approach.
    • 2-day, 15 hour course
    • Participants: PT/OT/PTA ONLY
    • Multiple audiences (Beginner, intermediate, advanced clinicians)
    This course will present the Cyriax approach for the examination and treatment of the shoulder, elbow and wrist. Integrated within the presentation will be selected Mulligan mobilization with movement to improve range of motion and decrease pain. This course is designed to teach the physical therapist differential diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical soft tissue problems of the upper extremity. The course will also instruct the clinician in the use of therapeutic exercise to complement manual therapy interventions for musculoskeletal conditions for the upper extremity. It is particularly useful for the physical therapist practicing direct access care in an out- patient clinical setting. The course is also relevant to the physical therapy assistant and the occupational therapist. The treatment techniques which will be presented can be administered by the physical therapy assistant and occupational therapist who is practicing with the supervision of the physical therapist.
    Teaching methods will include power point lecture presentation, demonstration and lab practice of the examination and treatment methods, and mock labs. Also included are 5 post course questions the participant can respond to for self evaluation.

    CEU hours: in application for 14 hours for State of New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and for 16.8 contact CEU hours with New York State Education Department.
