General Program Description
The PTA program includes 69.5 credit hours. Commencing in the fall semester, the program is five semesters in length. Classes are conducted Monday through Friday.
Clinical Experiences
Students are required to successfully complete three clinicals. The first is conducted 5 days per week for 3 weeks, during the spring semester. The last two are each 40 hours per week for 7 weeks, during the spring semester of the second year.Faculty
There are two full-time faculty members, four adjunct instructors and four lab instructors. All faculty members and adjunct instructors are engaged in clinical practice.Enrollment

In order to apply to the program, a student must be admitted to Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale to apply to the PTA Program. In addition, applicants must have successfully completed the prerequisite courses of Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Physical Science 111, English 111, and Introduction to PTAS 101. Students must complete an application form and submit the completed application materials by March 31st. in order to be considered for enrollment in the fall class. Application requirements include completion of the required courses and each student must complete the TEAS standardized assessment. Students receive an admission packet from the PTA program while they are completing the PTAS 101 Introduction to Physical Therapist Assistant class. Presently, up to 25 students are admitted in the fall of each year; many are nontraditional students. Approximately 40% of qualified applicants are admitted to the program (3 year average).Outcomes
Approximately 81.9% of admitted students graduate from the program (3 year average 2010-2012); 95% of the graduates passed the licensure exam (3-year average 2010-2012 – ultimate pass rate); and 100% of those program graduates responding to surveys are employed (3-year average 2010-2012).Tuition, fees and financial aid
As of the 2014 fall semester, program tuition was approximately $8,767,42. • Books, fees, equipment, uniform and supply costs raise the program cost to approximately $9,772.42 for in-state students. • The program costs for out-of-state students was approximately $19,102.80 for the five-semester program. The college reserves the right to revise fees at any time. The college assesses a $60.00 Technology Fee for all students per semester. Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana offers financial assistance to eligible students, coordinated through the Office of Financial Aid at 765-289-2291. Types of aid include Pell Grants, Supplemental Education Awards, Grants in Aid, work-study, and student loans. Regional scholarships are also available through the Ivy Tech Foundation.Student life
The PTA program is located at the Muncie campus of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana. All students commute to the campus. Students are encouraged to participate in any or all phases of the student activities program.No Records Found
