General Program Description
The two-year begins in August each year and continues for five semesters. The regular fall and spring semesters are 16 weeks, and the summer session is twelve weeks. Degrees are conferred in August. The program employs three faculty members, two of which are physical therapist and one physical therapist assistant. All program faculty members are practicing clinicians and vary in experience, education, and expertise.
Clinical Experiences
There are four clinical courses required in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The first course is in the spring, or second semester of the first year. The second is in the fall, or first semester of the second year. The last internships are in the summer before graduation and consist of two full-time six week internships. Affiliating clinical sites are located within a 90-mile radius of the school. These clinical experiences provide a variety of experiences, including community hospitals, skilled and maintenance nursing facilities, school systems, pediatric facilities, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation centers. The program aims to expose each student to as many types of physical therapy services as possible to encourage a well-rounded clinical experience.Faculty

The college has a total enrollment of approximately 5,500 students. The physical therapist assistant program accepts 24 first year students annually.Admission
Applications are submitted to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program . Students are declared program-ready by meeting test score requirements and submitting transcripts demonstrating completion of high school or college biology, and algebra. General education and elective requirements may be taken prior to or after entry into the program. Notice of admission is no later than July 1st for fall entrance. The college also offers a cooperative agreement with Scott Community College, located in Davenport, Iowa. Students vary in age and cultural background.Outcomes

The cost of tuition and fees for a full-time student for five semesters is approximately $8,122.00. Total cost for textbooks, lab fees and supplies is approximately $3,500. There are no dormitories or on-campus living arrangements. All students live off campus, and housing availability is adequate. Campus parking is convenient. Black Hawk College is located at Moline, Illinois which is located on the west central border of the state.No Records Found
