General Program Description
Morgan Community College is located in Fort Morgan, CO. A town of approximately 15,000 people, Fort Morgan offers a very close community that is passed on in the community college. MCC PTA Program continues to aspire to provide the best classroom and clinical information and experience from a staff that has over 30 years of experience.
Clinical Experiences
After Year One of the PTA program, the student will have 4 weeks of clinical experience in the summer session. The Spring semester of Year Two includes two 6-week clinical experiences. The clinical internships must be conducted at three different sites and generally consist of a general hospital, a long-term care facility, and an outpatient facility.Faculty
For school year 2010-2011, Morgan Community College PT Assistant program has two full-time faculty and total students of 47. The Program director is a physical therapist assistant with over 14 years experience. The second instructor is a physical therapist who has his DPT and brings over 17 years of experience. Associate faculty from the community are utilized as resources for various topics throughout the curriculum.Enrollment
Morgan Community College has a total enrollment of 1,500 students including both full and part-time students. The college has a diverse gender, culture, and age mix. Morgan Community College (MCC) has numerous evening classes to accommodate the working student population.Admission
The PTA program is a 2-year program beginning each Fall semester. Students may take the 43 credits of general education courses while taking the five semester progression of PTA courses. Students may choose to obtain some or all of the general education courses prior to Fall program entry thereby having a lighter load of coursework. The total number of credits needed to complete the program is 72 semester hours. 100% of qualified applicants are admitted to the program (3-year average).Outcomes
Of students who entered the program in years 2008, 2009, & 2010, over 93% graduated on-time. Colorado does now require licensure for physical therapist assistants thus, graduates from an accredited PTA school are required to pass a licensure exam to work with patients in Colorado clinics or facilities. In the two most recent graduating class, the pass rate of the National Licnesure Exam is 82%.Tuition, fees and financial aid
Tuition and fees per semester are approximately $1200-1500 for Colorado residents. Textbooks for one year are approximately $450. Room and board are not available at MCC and are the student’s responsibility. Students must provide their own transportation for internships. Morgan Community College has a broad-based scholarship program based on study, ability, interest, and need. Morgan Community College participates in the state and federal student aid programs.
