Massage is an old-age technique of stretching and applying pressure to relieve tension in specific muscle areas built up due to stress or injury. Massage is the place where Physiotherapy started. You might not consider the role of therapeutic massage when you consider physical therapy, but massage can make drastic improvements to your body's healing process.

Physical therapy massage also helps you recover from injuries like whiplash, muscle disorders, strains, sprains, tendonitis, and other types of pain. There are several styles of massage that are used in Physical Therapy such as Swedish, hot stone, and deep tissue massage, they are used to relieve pains in the body.

Massage helps with the reduction of pain caused during Physical Therapy. In most cases, massage treatment can lead to a quicker recovery from those injuries. You can also experience less soreness after you do a physical therapy session or workout with the aid of a massage session.

Physical Therapy and Massage Therapy work together and should be included in Physical Therapy sessions. Massage provides a variety of therapeutic benefits, and your physical therapist can either perform massage therapy techniques or help you find a massage therapist who specializes in physical therapy.

Do you know that kids have a special Physical Therapy called Pediatric Physical Therapy, when they get injured or need Physical Therapy due to illness, they should be taken to the right Specialist and not just the regular Physical therapist we all see. You might not give a second thought to walking up the stairs or picking up a drink but for a child with an injury or delay in development, those simple tasks can be a real challenge. and that’s where a pediatric physical therapist can help.

Pediatric Physical Therapy offers a comprehensive approach to helping children reach their highest level of independence within their environment. The program is designed for anyone 21 years of age or younger with impaired developmental conditions.

Physical therapy may be used to further develop motor skills such as sitting, crawling, walking, or balancing. Other issues that may be addressed are a loss of range of motion, flexibility, or strength, possibly due to injury, illness, or surgery. Physical therapists with special training in pediatric medical conditions will evaluate a patient’s specific needs and design a unique program to address functional deficits.

Pediatric physical therapy sessions should look and feel like play. PTs engage kids with fun, age-appropriate games and activities to keep them motivated and happy. Kids should have fun while undergoing physical therapy sessions.

Pediatric Physical Therapy can help with the following and more

Recovery from sports and non-sports-related injuries.

Delays in development, such as a child who should be walking or sitting.

Not hitting the milestones for their age.

Genetic disorders such as Down syndrome.

Muscle weakness or imbalances.

Poor coordination or motor planning which is the ability to think of and carry out a motor act, such as writing with a pencil.

Nerve/muscle conditions, such as cerebral palsy.

If you have concerns about your child's development and you think they could benefit from Physical therapy, make sure to talk to your health care provider, they will direct you to the right Physical Therapist.

Hip Pain is very common and may not be a sign of arthritis or any medical condition. You can have Hip Pain from lying on a side for a prolonged period, hip overuse, muscle stiffness, sitting in an awkward position, sprains, or strains.

Hip Pain is the general term used for pain felt around the hip or in the hip joint. It isn't always felt in the hip itself but may instead be felt in the groin or thigh. Sometimes pain from the back can radiate to the Hip.

You might notice that your pain gets worse with activity, you have a reduced range of motion, and some people develop a limp from persistent hip pain. Depending on the condition that is causing your hip pain, you might feel discomfort in your thigh, inside of the Hip Joint, groin, outside of the Hip Joint, or buttocks.

There are several ways to relieve Hip Pains, most especially if you need an almost instant relief that you can do at home by yourself

Hold a pack of Ice to the area for 15 minutes a few times a day

Heat the area with a warm water bottle

Involve in Physical activity that will concentrate on the hip area but do not overdo it.

Stretching

Massage

Depression is not purely a psychological condition, many systemic factors ranging from chemical imbalances to chronic pain can trigger depression. Women suffering from Postpartum depression have been found to show significant improvement when they engage in physical therapy (Exercise program). Many people with depression can be helped with Physiotherapy. Physiotherapy Treatment targets the physical symptoms of depression, improves energy levels, reduces pain, and improves sleeping patterns. Physiotherapy treatment will also have an impact on your mood and allows you to enjoy your day-to-day activities.

Endorphins released by the brain during exercise have been shown to reduce pain and improve mood. It can also help people whose depression is linked to issues with poor self-esteem or Body image.

Psychological treatments for depression have been recommended by the UK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. It is becoming more commonplace for helping to reduce symptoms in depressed adults. Physical Therapy has been proposed as a complementary treatment that may help to improve residual symptoms of depression and prevent relapse. I think it is safe to say that Physiotherapy should be recommended for Depression.

Postpartum Depression almost got the better part of me when I had my baby, it was overwhelming for me and very challenging as a first-time Mum, I was anxious and my anxiety disorder sparked up but luckily for me, I was already involved in some Physical activity before her birth and this helped a lot, I eventually became more relaxed, bonded with my child and got over Postpartum Depression.

However, it is also said that prescriptions should be tailored to the Patients' current level to avoid overwhelming the Patient. Here are some coping mechanisms that may also help you through depression.

Lower your expectations

Ask others to assist or help you

Maintain emotionally supportive relationships

Distance yourself from the source of stress

Directly attempt to change the source of stress

On the whole, if you're going through a difficult time or if everything seems tough and there is no pathway, remember this quote from Lulu Final Fantasy X "No matter how dark the night, morning always comes, and our journey begins anew'
